A one day conference “Startup Croatia” was held at the Hypo Centre in Zagreb on May 22nd 2014, opened by President Ivo Josipovic and Mayor of Zagreb Milan Bandic. Speakers from the USA, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Russia and Estonia have shown how to improve business processes and increase the efficiency by using modern technologies and trends. Many of them shared their own life and business stories of entrepreneurial and start-up experience. One of the moderators of the conference was Prof. Velimir Srića. He led a round table attended by Oliver Rothschild, Saul Singer, Mladen Pejkovic from Vipnet and Ivan Vidakovic from Microsoft Croatia and a special conversation with one of the most successful Croatian entrepreneur, Mr. Branko Roglic.
The conference discussed the development of the economy by means of innovation and initiating high-tech start-up. More than 600 participants had the opportunity to learn how to improve the operation from the world’s experts – business angel and consultant Oliver Rothschild and Saul Singer, author of the book “Start-Up Nation”.
Within the Conference was organized Startup Pitch, a competition for the best Croatian startup (the most promising entrepreneurial projects with global potential for expansion). The winning project was “Teddy The Guardian”, chosen by a jury chaired by Mr. Rothschild.
