Seminar goal

«Imagination rules the world“ Napoleon

About 50% of economic growth of the developed countries is based on innovations. Behind innovativeness there is the so called ability of divergent (creative) thinking, i.e., of generating completely new ideas and solutions.
Research has shown that the left hemisphere of our brain deals with logical-analytical operations, that is, convergent thinking which usually results in finding the best solution in a problem situation.

The right hemisphere deals with processes of intuition and creativity, that is, divergent thinking which, in certain situations, generates many different solutions, some of which can be unusual, uncommon, etc. Using the creative «Out of Box» thinking is one of the key elements in the triangle of high accomplishment («Out of Box» thinking. knowhow, challenging goals). Or as Ludwig Wittgenstein famously put it “If people never did silly things nothing intelligent would ever get done“

Despite the exceptional value of creative thinking, in large systems it is often undervalued category. While some companies, such as advertising agencies have departments that are specialized in creative thinking and separated from other departments, methods to stimulate creative thinking for example brainstorming or techniques proposed by Disney or De Bono, usually are not the part of what managers find useful in their work. On the other hand, logical thinking, numerical analysis, comparison of historical data, analytics, etc., occupy most of the time managers. Most organizations like to think and act in an orderly manner..

In order to accomplish extremely high results, it is necessary to use our recently gained knowhow in a new way, with an open mind. And while our memory tells us how the world looked like and our senses tell us how the world looks like now, imagination tells us how the world could look like. Imagination is the key factor of creative thinking.
